June – Aug. 2019, May 2020 – Jan. 2021

  • Worked on the prototyping team at a hardware engineering startup
  • Designed and manufactured a contact tracing wearable badge for COVID-19 response
    • Developed and implemented a Raspberry Pi based system for data collection, analysis, and visualization, including a MySQL database with over 15 million lines of data and PHP webpages
    • Designed and manufactured custom printed circuit boards used in v3 of the badge
    • Ran a pilot program for Building Momentum employees with 20 participants for six months
    • Designed a custom data collection system for Grand Forks Air Force Base and led production of 50 badges currently in use there
  • Worked with a team to create a cable robot that simulates a ship’s movement to test 3D printers
    • Wrote Arduino code to run the simulator based on user inputs from a Raspberry Pi GUI
      • Inputs included heave, pitch, and roll and an amplitude and frequency for each
    • Designed and manufactured four custom printed circuit boards for electronics integration
    • Wrote Arduino code to obtain and display sensor data from motion and air quality sensors
  • Created a fever detection system for COVID-19 response using thermal cameras and a Raspberry Pi
    • Wrote an image analysis algorithm in Python which can calculate a person’s temperature in 0.7s
    • Built the physical setup of thermal references, temperature sensors, and an infrared camera
  • Created the AfterZoom program to provide hands on STEM education to high schoolers during COVID
    • Created curriculum for and taught a one week Arduino class

Penn Electric Racing | Philadelphia, PA | Mechanical and Operations Member           Sept. 2019 – Present

  • Worked on a team of 60 students to design and build a Formula One style electric racecar
  • Designed custom battery substacks for energy storage with voltage and temperature monitoring
  • Designed and built a mockpit (mock cockpit) to determine optimal driver position and test driver interface features, helping to inform future car design
  • Competed in the cost event – calculated the cost of the car and designed strategies for how to limit cost through using lean manufacturing
  • Competed in the presentation event, presenting about our team organization, culture, and history

FIRST Robotics Competition | Alexandria, VA | President & Mechanical Member       Sept. 2015 – June 2019
